Dwayne Bowe NFL Draft Bio

Dwayne Lorenzo Bowe (born September 21, 1984 in Miami, Florida) is a current football player at Louisiana State University. Bowe's primary position is wide receiver.

Bowe's first year with the LSU Tigers was 2003, the year they won the national championship. As a true freshman he played in 13 games and led all freshman with nine receptions for 106 yards.

Now in his senior year, Bowe has developed into LSU's #1 receiver. He and quarterback JaMarcus Russell hold the school record for touchdown passes from one player to another. As of 2006, Bowe also holds the school record for total touchdowns.

Bowe is projected to be selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Strengths:
Dwayne Bowe has very good size with a solid frame and a wide wingspan. He has an excellent leap with good body control and ball skills. Overall he is a great natural athlete with big, strong hands, a long strid and plays faster than he times. Dwayne Bowe is an excellent blocker, big and physical and runs pretty well after the catch even in traffic. Dwayne is tough, enjoys the physical contact and is a force in the red zone, making many big plays during his career. Dwayne Bowe is a good leader with solid intangibles and he has only begun to come into is own as a player. Lots of potential!

Weaknesses:
Dwayne Bowe is not overly fast if you look at his timed speed on the track and doesn't seem to be overly quick. Being somewhat new to the game, he has a tendancy to dropped balls, seems to let the ball get into his body too often. He will need to become a better route runner, working on his ability to separte and stretch the field to becom a big play threat at the next level. Dwayne is a work in progress, he needs to learn how to identify coverages, and how to break them down. Some scouts feel he lacks concentration.

Notes:
A late bloomer, Dwayne Bowe did not play football until his junior year of high school. In order to help prevent dropped balls that seems to plague his career, Bowe underwent LASIK eye surgery in the offseason. He became JaMarcus Russell’s go-to receiver and is getting better every year. One of the most intriguing players in this draft, having a lot of potential, but a work in progress.
