Massaquoi is a smooth and fluid athlete who has shown the ability to adjust and make the tough catch on high passes. As a senior, he did not catch the ball as cleanly, but that was due to his playing the second half of the season with one of his wrists in a wrap/cast the extended up to the palm of his hand. While he is quick off the ball vs. air, he does not have the strength or use his hands well to release quickly vs. the jam. Once he gets going, he has good playing speed, but he lacks big-play explosiveness. He is not a good run blocker on straight-ahead run blocks, but does a good job on down/side blocks and blocks well down the field. He is not an big tight end and lacks the bulk/size to be a strong blocker at the point of attack and is not a consistent tackle breaker.
