Marcus McCauley #24 prospect in 2007 NFL Draft.

Marcus McCauley NFL Draft Bio

Strengths:
Marcus McCauley has that prototypical size you look for in the corner spot. He has an outstanding timed speed, he is very athletic and quick with fluid hips and a great initial burst. Marcus McCauley is a playmaker who has decent ball skills who plays physical and aggressive. Marcus has great body control, leaping ability and timing. He is a good tackler who supports against the run, and is able to play and excel in either man or zone coverage. . McCauley has superb instincts for the game when combined with a good work ethic, he becomes a pretty good prospect who has decent intangibles.

Weaknesses:
His technique and footwork can be inconsistent and Marcus will gamble and take a few too many risks. With all the physical skills, his hands are questionable and has missed some sure fire interceptions. He will need to get a stronger, to play at the next leve. He may not have been tested as well as some as opponents did not really throw at him much in college. Some scouts feel that he has trouble locating the ball, and seemed to struggled at times in 2006 and again didn't have a great senior year.

Notes:
A better prospect than Richard Marshall (a 2nd round pick) was a year ago and he had a great rookie season for the Carolina Panthers. Marcus McCauley really has all of the physical tools you look for in a top cornerback and should be able to step in and start early in his career. Some feel he is the lockdown type corner that every team would like to add to their roster.
