Jamaal Anderson (born February 6, 1986 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is an American football defensive end that formerly attended the University of Arkansas. He is expected to be drafted within the first 10 picks of the 2007 NFL Draft

In our oppinion, the Arizona Cardinals would like to take Joe Thomas with their first selection in the 2007 NFL draft but it seems highly unlikely that Joe will still be availabie when the Cards draft.

Jamaal Anderson is a very good defensive end and will make teams change their minds and draft the most talented player vs the best fit for their teams. Jamaal Anderson hasn't received a lot of national attention yet but he is a premier prospect who is coming off a junior season in which he tallied 19.5 tackles for a loss and 13.5 sacks.

Scouts feel that Jamaal is a Richard Seymour clone, so Anderson will come off the board somewhere in the top ten overall picks and might very well be Arizona's best option considering the lack of a top offensive lineman on the board.

One of the biggest surprises in the 2005 season, Anderson burst onto the scene midway through the year after teammate Anthony Brown was sidelined with a season-ending injury. With the added playing time and responsibility Jamaal is perhaps the most improved defensive player on the Arkansas roster. Anderson became a force to be reckoned with on the right edge of the Razorback defense down the stretch in 2005. He ranked among SEC leaders with 10.5 tackles for loss last season. Jamaal was a steady source of quarterback pressure and containment for Arkansas in 2006. He entered the fall camp as the starter at left end.

After playing as a reserve behind Anthony Brown at right end in the first half of the 2005 season, Jamaal stepped into a starting role at defensive end after a season ending injury to Brown. Jamaal Anderson played in all 11 games earning a starting nod in the final five games of the season. Jamaal Anderson had 47 total tackles, including 28 single handed stops and 19 assisted tackles. Jamaal Anderson ranked second on the team and ninth in the SEC with an impressive 10.5 tackles for loss (-58). Ranked third on the team with four sacks (-33). Anderson's seven quarterback hurries ranked him fourth on the team and he accounted for 34 of his 47 tackles, 8.5 of his 10.5 TFL and three of his four sacks in his five starts (at Georgia, 10; South Carolina 6; Ole Miss 6; Mississippi State 8; at LSU 4).

Jamaal Anderson recorded at least six tackles in four of the last five games. He produced a season-high three TFL in back-to-back games. He had three TFL and two sacks against Ole Miss, and followed that with three TFL and one sack vs. Mississippi State. He was the SEC’s Defensive Lineman of the Week following his eight-tackle, three TFL performance in a win against Mississippi State. – He recorded two solo tackles, one tackle for minus-two yards and two assists in the season opener against Missouri State. He registered one assist in the Hogs’ game with Vanderbilt. He had the Razorbacks’ only sack of USC’s Heisman Trophy quarterback Matt Leinart. He finished with two solo tackles and one quarterback hurry against the Trojans. He played but did not record a tackle against Alabama. He made three total tackles with two solo stops against Louisiana-Monroe. He racked up three tackles for the second straight week with two unassisted tackles and an assist against No. 21 Auburn. He earned Hogwired.com Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting a season-high 10 tackles, including six solo stops, and two tackles for loss (-7) against Georgia. In addition to his double-digit tackle outing, he recovered a fumble against the Bulldogs. He continued his solid play in his second start against South Carolina with six tackles, a pass deflection and an assisted tackle for loss (-2). He made six tackles, including three TFL (-21) and a career-high two sacks (-18) against Ole Miss. He earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors after dominating the defensive front in the Hogs’ victory over Mississippi State. He posted eight tackles, six solo and two assisted, three tackles for loss (-17), one sack (-6), two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. On his sack, he came from the blind side and unloaded on the MSU quarterback, causing a fumble that teammate Keith Jackson recovered. He was named the Hogwired.com Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against the Bulldogs. He finished the season with a four-tackle effort at LSU.

He played in all 11 games as a true freshman earning time on defense and on special teams. He racked up 18 tackles, including 12 solo stops, in his freshman campaign. He made at least one tackle in 10 of 11 games and recorded multiple stops in four contests. He earned two tackles for loss (-1), one pass deflection and two quarterback hurries. He also blocked his first career punt against Louisiana-Monroe. – He earned three assisted tackles in his collegiate debut against New Mexico State. He tallied two solo stops in the Hogs’ home loss to Texas. He earned a career-high five tackles, including three solo stops and a tackle for loss, in the Razorbacks’ 49-20 win over Louisiana-Monroe. He deflected a ULM punt in the first quarter to earn the first blocked kick of his career. Arkansas scored on its ensuing offensive possession. He also earned his first career pass deflection against the Indians. He made one solo stop in the Hogs’ 27-10 win over Alabama. He earned one solo tackle apiece in road losses at Florida and at Auburn. He also tallied his first quarterback hurry against the Tigers. He played as a reserve and on special teams, but did not earn a tackle against Georgia. He garnered two solo tackles, including a tackle for loss (-1) in a 35-32 loss at South Carolina. He made one key tackle in the Razorbacks’ 35-3 win over Ole Miss. Along with teammate Keith Jackson, he stymied Rebels’ ball carrier Brandon Jacobs for no gain on a fourth down play in the first quarter. Arkansas took over on its 47-yard line and drove for a score of its own. He tallied one assisted tackle in the Razorbacks’ 24-21 win over Mississippi State. He made one solo stop in the Hogs’ season finale against LSU.

He racked up 85 catches for 1,620 yards and 13 touchdowns in his prep career. He played both wide receiver and defensive end for Coach Earnest McGee. He left as the all-time leading receiver at Parkview High School after eclipsing the mark held by former Green Bay Packers tight end and current Arkansas Razorback Sports Network color commentator Keith Jackson. He also owns career school records for most receptions and most touchdown catches. He earned 30 receptions for 430 yards and six touchdowns in just eight games as a senior. He tallied a school-record 166 yards and three touchdowns against Little Rock Central as a senior. He missed two games with a concussion. In his junior campaign, he hauled in 23 passes for 530 yards and four touchdowns. He was named to the All-Junior Arkansas team as well as garnering all-conference accolades. He was also voted the most outstanding receiver on his squad. As a sophomore, he made 33 catches for 660 yards and three scores. A standout in high school basketball as well, he was a teammate of fellow Razorback Marc Winston. He was nominated for the McDonald’s All-Star Basketball Game. He also participated in track and field. The Morning News rated him as the No. 19 prospect in Arkansas. He was ranked as the No. 11 prospect in Arkansas by SuperPrep. Max Emfinger rated him as the No. 50 flanker/receiver in the nation. In addition to Arkansas, he was recruited by Alabama, Colorado, Florida and Ole Miss.
