Ray Edwards NFL Draft Bio

Ray Edwards has very good size, long arms and athleticism. He has the quick feet and playing speed to beat the offensive tackle around the corner and has an explosive closing burst to the quarterback to finish sacks. Ray Edwards has the play strength to jolt the offensive tackle upright, can get an initial push and has quick hands to defeat the block and get the sack. He is a very smooth, fluid prospect who can change directions easily, can avoid blocks well on the move and has a good finishing burst. He has the playing speed to chase down running backs in backside pursuit when he chases hard on runs away. He has the playing strength to string out the outside run vs. a tight end block, can shed block and make tackle.

Edwards does not play with any real sense of urgency. He does not rush the passer aggressively enough on every snap and often, if his initial pass-rush move is stopped, he justs stops his feet and quits. Ray Edwards is not explosive off the ball and will struggle to get the corner in the NFL. He does not chase hard in backside pursuit and will not fight through blocks to make plays on runs away. He does not deal with low/cut blocks well and gets cut to the ground way too easily.
