Stephen Tulloch is an instinctive linebacker who reads and reacts quickly to the play. Works hard to get started towards the ball quickly at the snap. His instincts help him to play quickly. Stephen is an active and competitive linebacker who hustles and chases after the ball hard and has sideline range when he has a clear path to the ball. Tulloch flashes aggressiveness filling the hole on inside runs and can make strong and physical tackles. When he wants to, he can be a big hitter and runs through his hits / tackles. He is surprisngly smooth dropping off the ball into zone coverage and gets out to the flat quickly to make tackles on short dump-off passes to running backs.

Tulloch is shorter than ideal at just under 5-11. Blocker can get ahold of him, and they can engulf him and eliminate him from the play. Stephen Tulloch is tight in the hips and struggles to adjust and tackle well out in space. His stiffness hinders his ability to reach down to protect his legs from low / cut blocks and to move well through traffic chasing after the ball carrier. He lacks the explosiveness and good playing speed to catch fast players from behind and does not have an explosive closing / finish burst to consistently finish plays he gets close. He struggles covering tight ends in tight man coverage.
