Mills is a smart football player who knows how to get open, he runs very sharp routes, and once he gets to full speed, shows a little burst to get separation. Garrett has very good hands and consistently has shown the ability to adjust and make tough catches on off-target passes. Mills has the ability to get down and pluck the low pass effectively. Garrett runs hard after the catch and never stops fighting for extra yards until he is on the ground and the whistle blows. Garrett has the natural flexibility to bend his knees and can well block with leverage.

Mills is a "tweener" who has the size of a fullback, but is much more of a receiver than a blocker. Unfortunately, Mills lacks a burst off the ball into his routes and does not have the speed to get deep and make big plays. Despite his tremendous effort running with the ball, he lacks the size to break tackles and the explosive burst to make big plays. Garrett lacks the strength to block effectively at the line of scrimmage and can be pushed and pulled off his feet too easily. Garrett does not consistently get his head and shoulders around quickly after a cut, and he fights the ball a little when it gets on top of him.
