Jason Avant NFL Draft Bio

Avant is a smooth and fluid athlete who runs good routes. Jason has good size and strength which helps him catch passes in traffic and to break tackles and gain yards after contact. Avant is tough and gets the ball aggressively on quick-hitting slant routes. Jason has excellent hands and can reach out and pluck the ball with his hands away from his body and consistently adjusts and makes those tough catches. He is a competitive blocker who fights to keep his man out of the play.

Jason Avant lacks explosiveness and top-end playing speed. Fails to get separation on deep routes and is not a field-stretching receiver. Has difficulties exploding off the ball and does not use his hands well to fight through the jam. A major concern was that Jason was the only goto receiver for Michigan and his overall college production is not what you would expect from one of the top receivers at the college level.
