Barry Cofield NFL Draft Bio

Cofield is a good athlete with the very quick feet and playing speed to chase down plays in pursuit. Barry has the agility and quickness to defeat blocks with an arm-over move, and he closes fast on the quarterback to get the sack. When he uses his hands aggressively, Barry can hold ground at the point of attack vs. run blocks. He has flashes of ability to shed blocks and make tackles. Cofield has decent size and the strength to knock offensive linemen backwards when he bull rushes.

Cofield miss times the snap count more then you would like and he is usually late moving, which hinders his ability to get backfield penetration. Barry is not aggressive enough with the use his hands when blocking, and really struggles to shed and get free when he doesn't. At times he does not protect his legs from cut blocks and gets cut to the ground. Barry also needs to work on his feel for the game as feel down / side blocks coming, and gets driven down the line of scrimmage way too easily. Despite ability, Cofield just does not make enough plays.
