Calvin Lowry NFL Draft Bio

Lowry is a tough safety who consistently is around the ball making plays, he reads the run quickly and comes up quickly in support. He takes good angles to the ball and can break down and tackle well out in the open field. He closes quickly on the ball carrier and has shown ability to make hard and physical tackles. His instincts, quick feet and burst help him to get outside to make hits on the receiver right after he catches the ball, and to break and close quickly on passes in front of him. Calvin has good instincts and reactions getting out to the flat to make the tackle on the screen pass.

Calvin Lowry is not as mobile as you would like in the NFL game and he struggles to adjust while on the move out in space. Calvin is also overly aggressive, when combined with his tight hips, lead to him miss tackles as he over pursues. Lowry does not always bring his feet with him when he tackles and ends up lunging too often. Lowry lacks the agility, acceleration and playing speed to stay with the elite NFL tight ends and wide receivers in coverage. He will get beaten when trying to cover a slot receiver at the pro level.
