Rodrique Wright NFL Draft Bio

Rodrique Wright is a big man with a large frame that can easily pack on some additional pounds. Rodrique is an excellent natural athlete who has good quickness and demonstrates an explosive burst. Wright is strong and can hold his ground, has good range and can make plays all over the field. With size, strength and quickness he is a menace and can penetrate an offensive line and cause problems in the backfield. For a young man Rodrique Wright has a lot of experience and might be able to play defensive end in a 3-4 scheme in the NFL. Rodrique still has a lot of upside and will develop well at the pro level.

Scouts feel Rodrique Wright is an underachiever who doesn't play up to his physical ability. The knock on Wright is that he is not a hard worker, lacks technique and does not have the stamina needed at the pro level. Rodrique will play too high at times and he allows blockers to lock on. Rodrique Wright is a concern to some teams as he has some durability concerns and he has dealt with a nagging angle injury for most of his junior season.

Rodrique Wright has good bloodlines as he is cousin of NFL defensive lineman Cedric Woodard and his uncle Elmo was a first-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 1971. Wright is a talented player who looked like a future elite pro prospect early in his career before leveling off in the last year. Rodrique has the skills to be a great player but must be more consistent to fulfill that potential. Teams will be concerned about his drive and will to play the game. It might just be, that Wright needs to be challenged more and the NFL will surely do that!
