Andrew Whitworth #65 prospect in 2006 NFL Draft.

Andrew Whitworth NFL Draft Bio

Andrew Whitworth is a four-year starter with loads of experience against some of the top competition the college game has to offer. Andrew is very durable, has good size and a large frame. Whitworth is a big, strong physical player who can overwhelm opponents on the offensive line. Andrew Whitworth has a nasty demeanor and a hard nose attitude which fits in well when working in the running game. Andrew is a hard worker and does not let up on the play until the whistle is blown. Andrew is a technically sound player who is not only smart but a team leader. He has those top intangibles and a tremendous amount of upside.

Andrew Whitworth is not a great natural athlete who tends to make scouts a little bit leery. As a result, he does not move real well and does not have great footwork and finds himself in trouble when going against speed rushers. Not being fleet of foot, or overly mobile, Andrew Whitworth has difficulty with pass blocking. He struggles to get to the second level of defenders and has difficulties trying to hit moving targets. He tends to stand too straight in his stance and needs to play with better leverage and bend his knees more. Many scouts are concerned that he might not be as good as his stats and recent press would suggest. His upside might be tied directly to his physical shortcomings, if he can overcome these limitations he will do well… If not, then he could be a big bust in this years draft.

Andrew Whitworth played left tackle in college but will most likely be relegated to the right side at the pro level. Andrew is a solid but not spectacular player, who will never be an NFL star but could, if he works hard, become a started for some team for a long time. There is no flash and dash in Andrew Whitworth game, what you see is what you get. If teams are looking for a big, physical right then Whitworth will probably fit the bill.
