Jason Allen NFL Draft Bio

Jason Allen has excellent size, long arms, fluid hips and quick feet. Allen is a smooth athlete, with good hands and a nose for the ball. Jason is a playmaker by all accounts in the secondary, and is equally effective against the run as he is in pass coverage. Jason Allen is a versatile player who has some experience at multiple positions in the secondary. Jason is a smart player who was the team captain and leader on the field. Jason has a fair bit of potential and still has more upside.

Jason Allen will need to pick a position and focus on mastering the nuances of it rather than bouncing around if he is to have any success in the NFL. Jason needs to work on his tackling skills, as he doesn’t always make the play in that area. He has good size but doesn’t use it effectively and scouts would like to see him be more physical. Jason Allen does not have great speed, and may find that he cannot keep up in the NFL with the faster, quicker receivers in coverage. Another question teams and scouts may be watching very closely is his dislocated hip and should problems. His durability might be in some question, especially in the NFL as it is a much harder and tougher league.

Jason Allen could work into either the safety or corner spot at the pro level. Jason almost entered the 2005 NFL draft but backed out at the last minute in hopes of increasing his stock for the 2006 NFL Draft after playing corner for the Vols this last year. Jason Allen might be a good fit a corner, and if this doesn’t work out, he could still work into a free safety position.
