Kelly Jennings is a very smooth corner with great athletic ability. Jennings has good height and demonstrates good speed with an excellent burst. Kelly has fluid hips, good feet, a great change in direction and recovers well. Kelly Jennings has good ball skills and has shown that he will pick off some passes if the quarterback isn’t watching. Jennings has the ability to stay with receivers step-for-step in man coverage and can even play off a little to entice a throw. Kelly is a smart player who plays with those top level instincts for the corner spot. Kelly Jennings is a hard worker, who has a lot of experience at the college level with good intangibles.

Kelly Jennings really needs to add some bulk to his frame, and increase his core strength to be affective in the NFL. Jennings will need to work on adding a physical dimension to his game to become a top level player as he does not support the run well. Scouts wonder if his undersized frame will be able to handle the physical NFL game over the course of a season.

Kelly Jennings is just the latest Hurricane cornerback who will make his way to the NFL. Kelly’s game is similar in a lot of ways to former 1st round pick Philip Buchanon. In terms over cover ability, Kelly Jennings has just about all the tools team would want, height, speed and athleticism. Kelly Jennings has those intangibles and potential that might make him attractive as a project player.
