Maurice Stovall has tremendous size and he knows just what to do with it. He has great body control and can make the circus type catch. Maurice is a decent vertical leap and can out jump most cover guys. Strong and physical Maurice Stovall is a willing blocker who does a tremendous job in that area. Maurice Stovall does not have that really top rated speed or quickness and may have trouble separating himself from defensive backs in the NFL. A bit of a late bloomer, Stovall didn’t really emerge and play up to his potential until Charlie Weis came on the scene. Some scouts are concerned that he might put on too much weight and loose even more precious speed in his game. He has had trouble in the past of maintaining his weight and he will need to keep on top of that. Stovall is not afraid to go into traffic areas but does not get a lot of yards after the catch. With some work in the off season he might be able to work some drills in to improve in this area. Maurice Stovall. At times it seems that Stovall is easily distracted and needs to have someone keep him motivated as he has tendency to drop some balls.

Maurice Stovall has some versatility as a pro, as he can potentially bulk up and become a tight end or even a Half Back. Maurice’s size and ability could make him a nightmare to try and cover in the red zone. Maurice Stovall was not really the scout’s radar until the end of the 2005 season and will probably make the biggest jump in the draft. Many scouts haven’t really had Maurice slotted into this draft, and I am sure there is a team out there that is going to make a move sooner then they would normally to get him.
