Ryan O Callaghan NFL Draft Bio
Ryan O Callaghan NFL Draft Bio

Ryan O'Callaghan has great size, a massive frame and the strength to back it all up. O'Callaghan is an extremely strong player who can be dominant when playing a tough physical game. He is an outstanding run blocker and has that tough and physical nature combined with a nasty demeanor on the field. Ryan is intelligent and has great instincts. Ryan O'Callaghan has good balance and can anchor any defense if he can stay healthy. Once he locks on it is over! Ryan O'Callaghan is a hard worker and team leader with top notch intangibles. Ryan has a lot of experience and has led the way for some prolific Pac-10 offensive attacks.

The college game hasn’t been as nice to Ryan O'Callaghan as one would have hoped. He has a history of injuries to both of his shoulders and durability could be a very real concern for some teams. Ryan is not a naturally gifted athlete and is not very mobile or agile. He can be beat with speed rushers and could get exploited at the elite level. O'Callaghan is not as versatile as you would like and does not have the ability to play the left side. The other big question teams have about Ryan is how he will adjust to the NFL when he will not be able to just impose his will based on pure size and strength like he did in college.

It is potentially a possibility to have Ryan O'Callaghan move to the inside to guard at spot the pro level . It would mean he has experience as a starter there, so teams will probably try him out first. Ryan O'Callaghan is as advertised, a big, snarling right tackle that will maul the opposition. Teams that are looking for that kind of a player will love to have him on the field. He has the ability to scare opposition players and intimidate with his size. If teams can get by the injury problems he has had in the past he might be drafted more quickly that we suspect. We feel he is a solid second round pick in the 2006 NFL draft.
