Nick Mangold has good size, and has enough growing room to add more weight. Nick is technically sound and plays with good leverage making him tough to knock down. For a big man Nick Mangold is a solid athlete with good quickness who moves well. Mangold is intelligent player who works hard and plays hard. Nick is a leader on the field and makes all the calls the offensive line. He is a spirited player who competes every night and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Like all good lineman he plays hard and with a nasty demeanor. Nick Mangold is a solid player who is durable, and has not missed a start since 2003. Teams like his upside and they know he has the capacity for further physical development.

Nick Mangold is a good size man but really needs to work on strength training to succeed at the next level. Nick does not have a wide base and tends to struggle when head-to-head against massive nose tackles. You would like him to be more explosive and dominant but it just isn’t in his game at the moment. Sometimes releases too quickly when blocking and doesn’t get a great push in the run game. Mangold may not be a great fit in just any scheme.

Nick Mangold is a probable starter in the middle in his career. He might just suit a zone blocking scheme. He has all of the mental tools and most of the physical tools teams are looking for. He also has loads of experience and many intangibles that push him over the top. Depending on what teams feel they need, Nick Mangold could go late in the first round or may drop back until the middle of the second round of the draft. Nick is a team leader and that should help his draft position.
