Thomas Howard is an amazing athlete who has rare speed for an outside linebacker. He has fluid hips and does a tremendous job when dropping into coverage. Howard Has a great burst of speed and closes fast on his target. He is terrific in space and can make plays sideline-to-sideline with speed. Thomas Howard is a big-time hitter who will knock people out. He moves from side to side and changes direction extremely well. His vision is good and has an excellent pass rush when on the blitz. Over his college career Thomas Howard has been very productive, he is a team leader, works hard and has those top notch intangibles that will make him great.

Makes most of his plays using his athleticism and lacks great instincts, which are essential for a first rate linebacker. Even though Thomas is a big time hitter he can improve on his tackling skills. At times he struggles when taking on bigger blockers and needs to start a weight training regimen to increase his core strength. He has the speed to get into position, but doesn't react on the field as quickly as he should. He is still a developing prospect and will need to hone his skills.

Thomas Howard began his career with the Miners as a walk-on to the safety spot. His father was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1977, giving him the bloodlines and work ethic to make it in the bigs. Howard is a prospect who has some of those top flight skills that should make him a good pro in the future. Because of his rawness you might see Thomas Howard drop into the second round but don’t count on it.
