Bobby Carpenter NFL Draft Bio
Bobby Carpenter NFL Draft Bio

Bobby Carpenter is good sized outside linebacker. He is very fast, athletic and has excellent natural instincts for the linebacker position. Carpenter is very natural and does an excellent job in coverage and can be relied on to fill in against the run. Bobby Carpenter uses is speed to fly onto the ball and has good range allowing him to make plays sideline-to-sideline. Bobby is a tremendous pass rusher and blitzer who might just be the best in the 2006 draft. Carpenter is tough as nails and a true football player in every sense of the word. He is aggressive, tenacious and has a motor that never quits. Bobby is a versatile player who is very productive in a lot of different roles, and has a lot of experience in a young career.

Has shown that he has some trouble shedding blocks and really needs to work on tackling skills. We would like to see him work a little harder and develop some hand skills. Some scouts worry that he was surrounded by a lot of talent which miss represent his stats. That talent alleviated pressure and didn't allow the opposition to focus on any weaknesses Bobby Carpenter may have in his game. Bobby Carpenter can be too aggressive at times causing him to get out of position. There are some concerns that he might not be quite as athletic as his stats would suggest.

Bobby Carpenter comes from a good football background as his father Rob Carpenter played for the New York Giants. Showing some versatility, Bobby was pressed into action as defensive end for the Buckeyes. Behind A.J. Hawk, Carpenter may have been overshadowed but this he is a top prospect and has those top flight intangibles to make him a top pick. Bobby has proved to be a great strongside linebacker who could also be an impact player in a 3-4 pass rushing role as well. Though we don’t feel he will be drafted until late in the first round we also believe that Bobby Carpenter is one of the most underrated players in the draft.
