Ernie Sims NFL Draft Bio

Ernie Sims is an outstanding natural athlete who is very quick and fast. Ernie has exceptional strength for a man his size and tends to play bigger then he really is. Sims is a solid tackler who hits hard and plays even bigger. A good playmaker with tremendous instincts, Sims is always around the action and doesn't get hung up on blockers. He is very good in coverage and has above average sideline-to-sideline range. Ernie Sims is a fiery, aggressive and intense player who just never seems to quit working hard. He played a lot in college and he has earned a lot of quality experience and has been very productive with the minutes he has played.

Even though he plays a lot bigger then he is, he does not have the size you look for in terms of height or weight. At times Ernie can be too aggressive and taking bad penalties. Ernie has suffered through his share of injuries and missed some time with a concussion. Combined with an off-the-field incident but that was not considered to be indicative of his overall character, some scouts might be worried about drafting him early.

Ernie Sims sas a lot of family ties at Florida St. with his father Ernie Jr. having played for Bobby Bowden in 1977, 1978, 1980 and 1981. His mother was an All-American sprinter on the Seminole track team from 1980 - 1983 and now his little brother Marcus just signing a letter of intent to play for Bowden. Sims ran into trouble and was charged with a couple of misdemeanors for domestic battery and resisting arrest without violence in June of 2005. Ernie’s play is similar to Derrick Brooks and has everything teams look for except ideal size. Ernie is an interesting prospect that is full of potential and given the right situation might excel in the NFL. Expect Ernie to go in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft.
