Leonard Pope #23 prospect in 2006 NFL Draft.

Leonard Pope NFL Draft Bio

Leonard Pope has outstanding size with a large frame and long arms. Leonard is an excellent receiver with excellent hands and is very athletic. Pope can use his speed to stretch a defense vertically and has had success with making yardage after the catch. One of Leonard’s strengths is his tremendous leaping ability which allows him to out jump the opposition. Pope has great ball skills combined with decent body control, allowing him to make the difficult catch. Has a good initial step, gets off the line quickly and runs good routes. Leonard Pope instinctively knows how to use his size and has a knack for getting open. Leonard is already a good receiver who still has a lot of upside.

Leonard needs to work on his blocking skills, which is necessary in the NFL to become a starter. For his size Leonard has good speed, but he does not possess the game breaking elite level speed. Pope has performed well at the college level but needs to work on technique and position. We would like to see Leonard play bigger as he is a large man who can be more physical and develop a mean streak

Has a career average of 18.1 yards per catch which will make most teams interested in his services. Leonard Pope has a physical presence on the field, elicits terror for those who line up against him and he can be a major force in the passing game. Leonard has all the tools needed to become a dynamic weapon in the NFL. Any team would love to have a player of Leonard’s potential in their lineup.
