Jay Cutler #21 prospect in 2006 NFL Draft.

Jay Cutler NFL Draft Bio

Jay Cutler has a very strong arm, quick delivery and decent accuracy. Jay is also a pretty good athlete who has good size, strong and durable. Cutler plays with an experience beyond his years and though still needs some work to play at the NFL level. Jay is a patient player who will go through his progressions, can throw the ball on the run and is tough. Jay can hang in the pocket, take a hit, and get up to make a play on the next sequence. Jay Cutler is a leader on and off the field, has those top intangibles and is a big gamer who comes up big in the clutch.

Jay’s mechanics can be a little out of control at times and his footwork is very erratic. Being a young quarterback Cutler will take unnecessary risks and make some poor decisions which can result in big plays by the opposition defense. Jay has a gunslinging mentality which when not in check can morph into recklessness. Jay Cutler as too much confidence in his arm at times and throws into coverage when he should just throw the ball away. Jay has a strong arm but struggles throwing the deep ball with a lot of accuracy. The knock on Jay is that he has not had a lot of success at the college level from a team perspective and his body has taken a lot of punishment throughout his short career.

Cutler has never received a lot of national attention but was named preseason All-SEC. From a talent standpoint Jay has all the physical tools and makeup to succeed in the NFL. Cutler has size, strength, a good arm that is accurate and strong will probably make him a top draft prospect. Expect Cutler to go fairly early in the 2006 entry draft.
