Tye Hill #18 prospect in 2006 NFL Draft.

Tye Hill NFL Draft Bio

Tye Hill started his career as a tailback, and then moved to the defensive side of the ball becaming one of the best cover corners in the college game. He was immediately put into the starting lineup as a sophomore and finished the year off with 37 tackles and two interceptions. In his junior year, Tye busted out tallying 52 tackles on the season, and had an amazing 21 passes defensed, which tied a school record. There are very few corners in this draft with the speed and natural cover ability that Tye Hill has. He can turn and run with any wideout in this draft and compete with many in the NFL as well. He does not lose any ground when changing directions in coverage and can mirror any move the receiver makes. Hill is aggressive at making plays on the ball and is arguably the top cover corner in this draft. Even though Tye Hill is a great cover man he has one glaring weakness that will make scouts and general managers alike concerned. Hill is a listed at 5’10 180lbs, but does not appear to even measure up to that. His smaller stature will limit what he can do in the running game, and his overall lack of size leads to him having problems matching up one on one against bigger corners. In the NFL this size limitation might make it difficult for him to compete. Tye Hill has the cover skills to be a standout nickel guy in the NFL. He may never be a true go to guy because he lacks size. Even still, Tye should still have an impact in coverage for his team. Hill’s track background will still make Hill a top corner in this year’s crop. If Hill performs well during his interviews he could find his way into the Top 40 of this year’s draft.
