Brodrick Bunkley #13 prospect in 2006 NFL Draft.

Brodrick Bunkley NFL Draft Bio

Brodrick Bunkley has been on the verge of taking his game to a whole new level for few years now. After an excellent sophomore campaign in which he racked up 38 tackles, eight for loss, and 1.5 sacks, he was ready for a standout junior season. Unfortunately, injuries hampered his production and slowed him down all season and prevented him from having the substantial impact we expected. Brodrick came back at full strength last season and finally put together a season much like we expected of him. Bunkley finished the year totaling 66 tackles, an amazing 25 for loss, and nine sacks. Bunkley is an excellent defensive tackle prospect who should go high in the 2006 NFL entry draft. His combination of talent, toughness, and tenacity rivals any tackle in the draft, and many playing in the NFL today. He is an exceptional athlete, and displays excellent quickness and closing speed once in the backfield. There aren't many 300lbers that can move as well as Brodrick. Bunkley has excellent strength and uses his hands very well to keep lineman from driving him out of the play. Bunkley may bring the added versatility of being able to play in the 3-4 or 4-3 defense.

There are not too many negatives in Bunkley’s game. He erased the doubt around his lack of bulk after checking in at 300lbs at the Senior Bowl. One of Brodrick Bunkley’s main questions in this upcoming draft is his durability issues, as he has suffered severe ankle and knee injuries during his career. Off the football field is where Bunkley's biggest problems lay. He was on the verge of being academically ineligible this season, and doesn't always put in the necessary work to get ready to play which will not sit well general managers and coaches around the NFL.

Brodrick Bunkley is a big time playmaking defensive tackle. His ability to penetrate and stuff the run or get to the passer is excellent. He isn't just a rusher though, as he shows the ability to hold his ground and keep lineman away from his body. Bunkley used his senior year to improve his stock as much as anyone. After his success on the field this season, he continued to rise up the charts with an excellent week in Mobile for the Senior Bowl. He bulked up to 300lbs and was a force all week in practice. He now ranks as one of the elite defenders in the draft, and has a chance to go very high in April.
