Molitor rings in superb year in boxing

Boxing appeared to come out of its deep slumber in Canada as Steve Molitor, the quick-fisted slugger from Sarnia, Ontario, twice defended his IBF super-bantamweight title, earning foreign fighter of the year by the British Boxing Board of Control. In Quebec, the sport continued to thrive as Montreal fighters Joachim Alcine and Lucian Bute won world titles while Jean Pascal, Adrian Diaconu and Herman Ngoudjo moved closer to the ring elite.
