MSG settles lawsuit with ex cheerleader

Still reeling from one sexual harassment lawsuit, Madison Square Garden has settled a second lawsuit against a former New York Rangers cheerleader. Courtney Prince, who was fired in 2004, claimed MSG failed to properly protect the dozen skating cheerleaders from being touched inappropriately when they went into crowds at games.

Blackhawks earn fourth straight win

Robert Lang scored two goals in the third period and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Nashville Predators 5-2 on Wednesday night for their season-high fourth straight win. Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane each had a goal and assist for the Blackhawks. Chicagos Nikolai Khabibulin was sharp and made 30 saves.

Paul scores 40 to lead Hornets over Grizzlies

Chris Paul had 40 points and nine assists, and the New Orleans Hornets used a third-quarter spurt to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 116-98 on Wednesday night. Paul shot 17-of-25 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range, as the Hornets won their third straight. It marked the second-highest point total in Pauls career. Only his 43 points against the Grizzlies on Dec. 7 was better.

Ravens Ogden unsure about next season

When Jonathan Ogden walks onto the field Sunday, he will be honoured as one of three Baltimore Ravens selected to play in the Pro Bowl. When the six-foot-nine, 345-pound offensive tackle walks off three hours later, it just might be for the last time.

Canada blanks the Czechs in WJC opener

John Tavares of the Oshawa Generals scored two power-play goals and goaltender Jonathan Bernier earned the shutout as Canada beat the host Czech Republic 3-0 to open the world junior hockey championship.

Pats go for 19th straight regular season win

Heres another Patriots milestone to think about. The team that seems ready to set a record for most records set in one year can break the NFL mark of 18 straight regular-season wins on Saturday night. All it has to do is beat the New York Giants to complete an unbeaten season.

Johnson Anthony win NBA weekly honours

Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson and Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played through Sunday, Dec. 23. Johnson led the Hawks to a 3-0 record, averaging 28.0 points, 7.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals. Anthony guided the Nuggets to a 2-1 week, averaging 33.7 points and 13.3 rebounds.

Phillies sign Taguchi to 1 year contract

Outfielder So Taguchi, who hit .290 for St. Louis last season, signed a one-year contract with the Phillies on Sunday. The 38-year-old Taguchi led all National League pinch hitters with a .406 (13-32) batting average.
