Flames down Oilers regain share of lead

Jarome Iginla had a goal and two assists to lead the Calgary Flames to a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. With the win, the Flames kept pace with the Minnesota Wild atop the Northwest Division, although the Flames have played two less games than the Wild.

OHL IceDogs thump Spitfires

Rockets McGrady lights up Grizzlies

Tracy McGrady scored a season-high 38 points and had nine rebounds to help the Houston Rockets beat Memphis 111-109 on Sunday night, handing Grizzlies interim coach Tony Barone his first loss. Juwan Howard added a season-high 22 points, and Luther Head had 18 in the Rockets third straight victory.

Pronger suffers broken foot in Ducks loss

Anaheim defenceman Chris Pronger broke his left foot Sunday night in the Ducks 4-3 loss to Minnesota. Pronger was injured when he blocked Mark Parrishs shot in the first period. Ducks officials said the all-star defenceman will fly back to Anaheim to meet with team doctors. He left the arena wearing a protective boot on his left foot.

Red Wings continue dominance of Kings

Pavel Datsyuk and Jason Williams each had a goal and an assist to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night. Detroit, which has won 12 straight over Los Angeles, also got goals from Tomas Holmstrom, Valtteri Filppula, Kris Draper and Mikael Samuelsson. Mathieu Schneider added two assists. Dominik Hasek made 28 saves. Alexander Frolov scored both of the Kings goals.

Niners eliminate Broncos from playoffs

Joe Nedney kicked a 36-yard field goal with 1:56 left in overtime as the Niners eliminated Denver from the playoffs with a stunning 26-23 victory Sunday. All the Broncos (9-7) needed was a win over the double-digit underdog Niners (7-9) or even a tie to earn a spot in the playoffs but they couldnt score on three trips inside the Niners five-yard line and blew an early 13-0 lead.

Surprising Jets clinch wild card spot

With quarterback Chad Pennington playing a mistake-free game and a defense that forced three turnovers, the New York Jets clinched a postseason berth with a methodical 23-3 victory over the hapless Raiders. Since losing to Chicago on November 19, the Jets (10-6) closed the season with five wins in their last six games to earn an AFC wild-card spot.

Parrish the hero as Wild hold off Ducks

Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored twice and Mark Parrish added the winner in the Minnesota Wilds 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night. Parrish scored on a backhand shot that fooled Ducks goaltender Michael Wall with 4:18 left in the third to send the Wild to their NHL-best 16th home win. Brian Rolston also scored for the Wild.

Chargers clinch top seed in AFC

The AFC playoffs run through LaDainian Tomlinsons house. Tomlinson failed to score a touchdown for a second straight game but it hardly mattered as the San Diego Chargers clinched home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a 27-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
