The mayor of Indianapolis says hes prepared to do whatever it takes to bring Formula One back next year.
Bart Peterson says the event is too valuable to the citys coffers to lose, bringing in more than $100-million each year. F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and Indy boss Tony George are expected to talk in a few weeks time.

Michael Schumacher captured Sundays United States Grand Prix Formula One race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A total of seven cars didnt even complete the first two turns, including Nick Heidfeld, whose BMW Sauber went airborne.

Formula One teams have reached unanimous agreement on engine freeze rules which would take effect starting next year.
FIA president Max Mosley has been adament that his 2008 rules package would go into effect unless teams were able to agree on a new proposal before this weekends race.

Michael Schumacher of Ferrari captured the pole for Sundays United States Grand Prix Formula One race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The No.5 Ferrari circled the 2.605-mile road course in one minute, 10.832 seconds.

A year after the Michelin tire fiasco threatened the future of Formula One racing in the United States, fans turned up at Indianapolis on Friday eager to put the past behind them.
While track officials did not announce attendance, it appeared thousands of enthusiastic fans took in the Friday session amid hints the sport would return in 2007.

Honda tester Anthony Davidson held on to top spot on the opening day of practice for the U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis.
Davidson emerged with the fastest time overall as teams returned to the U.S. track for the first time since last years Michelin tire fiasco. Jacques Villeneuve was 16th fastest in the afternoon.

FIA president Max Mosley says he will go ahead with plans to freeze engine development for three years starting in 2008.
In a letter sent to all teams, Mosley states he is not about to change the rules by which they all signed up for unless there is unanimous agreement among all the teams - something that has yet to materialize.

Honda test driver Anthony Davidson edged out Michael Schumacher in the opening practice for this weekends U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis.
The Ferrari driver actually finished the session in the gravel pit, spinning out in turn four while trying to beat Davidsons time. Jacques Villeneuve failed to set a competitive time, one of 13 drivers who did limited running Friday morning.

BMW-Sauber say they plan to make no changes to their rear wing despite complaints from at least one rival team.
Honda Racing produced photographs in Canada which appear to show the rear wing of the F1.06 flexing at high speed. However, FIA have deemed the wing legal and BMW-Sauber says it sees no reason to make any changes.

Ferrari and Red Bull Racing have been allowed to make minor modifications to their race engines for this weekends U.S. Grand Prix without penalty.
Race stewards say the engines of Michael Schumacher, Felipe Massa and David Coulthard were opened and an O-ring replaced on Thursday.
