Ryan played most of the first half, leading two drives into field-goal range -- Giorgio Tavecchio missed a 52-yard attempt but made a 24-yarder -- and having his other two drives thwarted by a holding penalty and back-to-back sacks. With five games on Atlanta's preseason slate, Ryan sat out the first two.

Matt Ryan expects to make his 2019 preseason debut when the Atlanta Falcons play the New York Jets on Thursday night, and his running back may be Devonta Freeman. Routes Jets GM Joe Douglas could take to add much-needed CB help

Tuesday, August 13th, 2019

The Jets knew the cornerback position was their biggest flaw, even before Trumaine Johnson injured his hamstring at practice on Sunday. Now, with Johnson out for the foreseeable future -- "I don't think it's going to be months," Adam Gase said, "but I mean, we'll see." -- the situation is dire. Of course they're not going to move their Pro Bowl safety to corner any time soon, especially since they're not exactly deep at safety either, which means GM Joe Douglas needs to work some magic and find some help at his most precarious position.
