Davis had a career year in 2019, starting all 16 games, logging 111 tackles, 4 sacks, and an interception, making the First Team All-Pro for the first time in his career. Aside from Davis, the Saints typically used AJ Klein and Kiko Alonso with Davis at linebacker after Alex Anzalone landed on IR in Week 2.

Maurice Smith, Taylor Stallworth go on NFL waivers

Two players with Alabama football roots lost their spots on NFL rosters on Monday when the Washington Football Team waived safety Maurice Smith and the New Orleans Saints waived defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth. Stallworth prepped at Murphy High School in Mobile while Smith played three seasons at Alabama before completing his college career at Georgia. Smith played in 13 games for the Miami Dolphins across the 2017 and 2018 seasons as he moved up and down from the team’s practice squad.

New Orleans Saints star defensive end Cameron Jordan said the hype around the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and six-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady is premature. In an interview with NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” Jordan said that Brady and the Buccaneers are fighting with the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers for “second place” in the NFC South.
