More officiating madness: Patriots get two touchdowns taken away on terrible calls

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

For all of the folks who believe the New England Patriots get every break from officials, a couple plays Sunday contradict that pretty well. The Patriots were trailing the Kansas City Chiefs 23-13 but had a huge play near the end of the third quarter. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce caught a pass that would have been a first down, inexplicably ran backward behind the first-down marker and then it got worse.

You can’t be serious: Trailing to Chiefs, Patriots booed off field at halftime

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

When Sunday dawned, the New England Patriots were sporting a 10-2 record and one of the two AFC first-round playoff berths. In essence, it was shaping up to be what has become a typical season for the Patriots in the last decade-plus. Let's repeat that: As the 10-2 New England Patriots, coached by the greatest coach the NFL has ever seen and quarterbacked by the greatest quarterback the NFL has ever seen, fueled this year by a defense that had allowed only 145 points in 12 games was booed off the field.

NFL highlights: Watch Patriots, Tom Brady fool Chiefs on flea-flicker TD

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

The New England Patriots took an early lead over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday with a pretty unconventional scoring drive, but given the struggles of quarterback Tom Brady and his offense in recent weeks, they'll certainly take it. The Patriots couldn't get anything going on their first drive, but they picked up two first downs on third-down pass interference penalties. After the second penalty, the Patriots went into their bag of tricks with a flea flicker play.

NFL rumors: Chiefs could have forfeited vs. Patriots due to equipment mistake

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

After getting blown out by the Jets and Chiefs in back-to-back weeks, the Raiders need all the help they can get to make the playoffs. The 8-4 Chiefs are in Foxboro, Mass., to face the 10-2 Patriots in a key AFC clash. Kansas City can clinch the AFC West with a win, but some of the team's equipment was accidentally sent to New Jersey instead of to Foxboro, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday.

Major mistake: Equipment bags for roughly 35 Chiefs players end up in Newark — not New England

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

This is a significant development and potentially huge mistake: Via Adam Schefter of ESPN, an equipment container holding the bags of roughly 35 Kansas City Chiefs players was not unloaded from the team's plane on Saturday and instead made its way to Newark, N.J. The bags hold necessities like shoulder pads, helmets and footballs. It's not clear which players are impacted. It was Kansas City's mistake and the team's responsibility; the Chiefs did not take the equipment off of its plane.

Lamar Jackson wears white sleeves and glove, is it a dig at ‘dark skin’ controversy?

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson may have made a statement with his uniform choice Sunday. A week after San Francisco 49ers broadcaster Tim Ryan said Jackson's “dark skin” helped him hide the football, Jackson wore white sleeves with a white glove against the Buffalo Bills. That could be a complete coincidence, or it could be Jackson's way at commenting on the controversy.

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

The New England Patriots don't like being counted out. Edelman took to Twitter on Sunday to release a hype video ahead of the Chiefs game. This week, the clip was mostly an amalgamation of various clips of analysts that are counting the Patriots out after their loss to the Texans.

NFL rumors: Raiders rookie Josh Jacobs a game-time decision vs. Titans

Sunday, December 8th, 2019

Josh Jacobs' pain reportedly might be too much to play through Sunday. The Raiders running back posted on Snapchat last week that he fractured his shoulder, and NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday, citing a source, that the rookie out of Alabama is "a true game-time decision" as a result of the injury. Jacobs, 21, has run for 1,061 yards on 218 attempts in his record-setting rookie season, surpassing Marcus Allen's first-year rushing mark in Week 9 and crossing the 1,000-yard plateau in last week's blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs head into Patriots showdown with ground game in flux

Saturday, December 7th, 2019

The Kansas City Chiefs will head into arguably their biggest game of the season Sunday in New England with the very real possibility that their leading rusher could be a running back that joined the team just a few days ago. For all the high-flying, record-setting performances by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense, the one thing that has been missing for the better part of two years is a consistent ground game. The Chiefs have cycled through numerous running backs, tried wide receivers on jet sweeps and end-arounds, and even utilized Mahomes on scrambles and bootlegs, all with the same underwhelming results.
