Chandler Jones named to NFL All-Decade Team

Former Syracuse football standout Chandler Jones was one of 52 players named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team this week. The team covers the 2010s and was picked by a 48-member selection committee comprised of members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jones was one of six linebackers on the defensive team, joining Luke Kuechly, Khalil Mack, Von Miller, Bobby Wagner and Patrick Willis.

No Hard Knocks For Cardinals

Only a few teams could have been made to participate in the HBO training camp series "Hard Knocks," and the Cardinals were one of them. It looks like the Cards have avoided that potential -- as have all the other teams that were on that list. ESPN reported Tuesday that it's the Rams and Chargers that will be this year's co-Hard Knocks teams, a way to chronicle both as they move into a brand-new giant stadium in Los Angeles.

Even if we exclude cornerback Josh Norman, whom the team signed before the official start of free agency, Buffalo picked up three former Carolina Panthers defenders connected to its lead skipper. Linebacker A.J. Klein, defensive tackle Vernon Butler and edge-rusher Mario Addison have all played under McDermott in Carolina. They also fill roster needs.

Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips had 5.5 sacks over his first four NFL seasons, so his 9.5-sack season for the Bills in 2019 came as something of a surprise. Phillips also had 13 tackles for loss and 16 quarterback hits and parleyed that big season into a three-year, $30 million deal with the Cardinals last month. A lot of people think it was some miracle or I was playing for a contract, etcetera, but I had more of an opportunity,” Phillips said, via the team’s website.
