The Jaguars activated veteran linebacker Jake Ryan from the non-football injury list Saturday. The team waived running back Tyler Ervin in a corresponding move. Jacksonville needs Ryan with backup linebacker Najee Goode on injured reserve with a knee injury and starter Myles Jack questionable with a knee injury.

With the running game expected to take centerstage in a rain-soaked M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, it appears the 49ers (10-1) will have an important weapon back in their arsenal. Running back Matt Breida, who has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, is expected to play against the Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported, citing a source. With rain expected throughout the day in Baltimore, the 49ers and Ravens (9-2) might have to lean heavily on their running backs.

The Detroit Lions placed quarterback Jeff Driskel on injured reserve, ending his season and putting rookie David Blough in line for his second start in Week 14. Driskel sat out a loss to Chicago on Thanksgiving because of a hamstring injury. The Lions lost their fifth consecutive game and are unsure of the status of regular starter Matthew Stafford, who has missed four consecutive games (hip, back).

Sunday’s win over Panthers results in two fines for Cam Jordan

Saints defensive end Cam Jordan registered four sacks on Thursday night. He also has absorbed two fines from the prior Sunday. Per a league source, the NFL fined Jordan $10,527 and $28,075 for two separate incidents of unnecessary roughness.

Bengals part ways with Andre Smith

Andre Smith arrived in Cincinnati as the sixth overall pick in the 2009 draft. The Bengals waived Smith earlier today, creating a roster spot for tight end Mason Shreck, who was elevated from the Cincinnati practice squad. Smith spent his first six NFL seasons with the Bengals.

Reports: Redskins president Allen’s future uncertain

Washington Redskins president Bruce Allen's job could be in jeopardy as the team struggles through another down season, multiple outlets reported Saturday. NFL Network reported owner Dan Snyder is "truly evaluating" the job status of Allen "for the first time" since he joined the team in December of 2009. The Washington Post later reported that Snyder is planning a "complete evaluation" of the team after the season, which could include a "deeper assessment" of Allen's tenure than has occurred after previous seasons.

It’s official: No Rob Gronkowski in 2019

If the Patriots eventually win their seventh Super Bowl title, they'll do it without tight end Rob Gronkowski. The window has closed on a potential Gronk emergence from the reserve/retired list. He wasn't added to New England's roster on Saturday.
