The New York Jets running back has sat out all four training camp sessions with what he calls a ''minor'' hamstring pull. One of the Jets' main free-agent signings this offseason, Forte said he hurt the hamstring while running on his own. Forte has dealt with a previous hamstring injury, before his second NFL season with Chicago in 2009, when he said he tore it and still played a full season.

Once the Titans quarterback broke out into the open away from defenders, he made a little stutter, hesitation step on his way to what would have been a touchdown. Denver coach Gary Kubiak says that in his 32 years in the NFL he's never seen this much depth or deftness at wide receiver. ''I've said from day one: that really has the chance to be the strength of our team,'' Kubiak said Sunday. Last year, there were Pro Bowlers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders and not much else, as those two pass catchers accounted for 80 percent of the team's production at wide receiver.

Out of shape and preparing to serve a four-game suspension, Buffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams is apologetic when bluntly assessing the fix he's put himself in. There's no point looking back on an offseason that went from bad to worse for Williams, who made a significant contribution to Buffalo's NFL-leading rushing attack as a rookie last season. Aside from the suspension, Williams isn't cleared for practice and instead is taking part in conditioning drills while opening camp on the active/non-football illness list.
