Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio has done a good job of keeping his players focused on the task at hand rather than looking too far ahead. Sunday's comeback win over the Tennessee Titans snapped Oakland's three-game losing streak that had put a serious dent in the Raiders playoff hopes. Oakland is currently ninth in the playoff race and trails the Houston Texans, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Seahawks are above .500 for the first time all season and in position to get back to the postseason for the fourth straight season after Sunday's 39-30 win over Pittsburgh. At the same time, the Seahawks spent Monday accepting that tight end Jimmy Graham is done for the season due to a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee and watched Ben Roethlisberger throw for 456 yards passing, the most ever allowed by a Seahawks defense.

Smith confident Buccaneers can hang in NFC playoff race (The Associated Press)

Monday, November 30th, 2015
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers worked themselves into playoff contention following a slow start and feel they're more than capable of earning a berth for the first time in eight years. A 25-12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts dropped the Bucs (5-6) below .500 with five games left in the regular season, however coach Lovie Smith stressed Monday there's no reason to believe his young team can't hang in the NFC race. ''This time of year ... you want to be relevant, you want to be in the mix for what's happening down the line,'' the coach said, reflecting on costly mistakes - penalties, defensive breakdowns and a lack of efficiency on offense - that undermined the team against Indianapolis.

Johnny Manziel gets to put on his uniform after all. Stripped of his starting job last week for not keeping a promise to Cleveland's coaches, Manziel is surprisingly active for Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens and is the No. 3 quarterback behind starter Josh McCown and backup Austin Davis. Browns coach Mike Pettine would not commit to having Manziel dress last week, but the team decided to have him as one of the 46 active players, saving the former first-round draft pick further embarrassment.

Matt Hasselbeck's inspiring comeback might be gaining popularity outside the Colts' locker room. Coach Chuck Pagano made it clear Monday that the 40-year-old quarterback with the 4-0 record will return to backup duty when Andrew Luck returns from a lacerated kidney and partially torn abdominal muscle. ''Andrew is our starting quarterback,'' Pagano said, essentially laughing off the notion that there's any quarterback controversy in Indy.

'Tis the season: As winter arrives, Vikings' defense thrives (The Associated Press)

Monday, November 30th, 2015
The Minnesota Vikings have developed one of the toughest defenses in the NFL under the demanding, experienced and creative direction of coach Mike Zimmer. If Adrian Peterson's league-leading rushing total is the face of this team's identity, the aggressive, disciplined and well-rounded defense is the rest of the body, as well as the mind and the soul. The Vikings, who have given up the second-fewest points in the NFL, took back sole possession of first place in the NFC North with another hallmark performance by the players paid to keep the other team from scoring in a 20-10 victory Sunday at Atlanta.
