Trump selected to advance in Bills’ sale process (The Associated Press)

Thursday, July 31st, 2014
Donald Trump remains in the running to buy the Buffalo Bills. Michael Cohen, Trump's executive vice president and special counsel, confirmed in an email to the AP that his boss was chosen to advance to the next round of bidding. Cohen said he was informed of the decision by Morgan Stanley, the banking firm overseeing the sale of the team for late owner Ralph Wilson's estate. The Bills most recently were valued by Forbes at $870 million but are expected to sell for at least $1 billion, partly because NFL teams rarely go on the market.

Thursday, July 31st, 2014
(Reuters) - The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks were given a welcome boost on Thursday when running back Marshawn Lynch ended a one-week holdout by reporting for camp at the team's practice facility. Lynch, Seattle's leading rusher for the past three seasons, arrived after the team's morning practice and television cameras showed him wearing a hooded "Beast Mode" sweatshirt and a woollen cap. The 28-year-old, a Pro Bowl selection in 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013, was seen in the lobby of the practice facility and the Seahawks later tweeted: "#BeastMode is in the building." Lynch signed a four-year, $30 million contract with the Seahawks in 2012 and is scheduled to earn $5.5 million in 2014. Before Lynch can be added to Seattle's active roster, he will need to pass a physical.

Pass defenders learn on job with Rams (The Associated Press)

Thursday, July 31st, 2014
The St. Louis Rams' secondary doesn't have veteran leaders, high-dollar talent or big names. Together, they'll try to dispel the notion the Rams are counting on one of the NFL's best pass rushes to keep the heat off the pass defenders. ''We're young, you can say that,'' safety T.J. McDonald said. ''That's where you start thinking you can ascend.'' Cornerbacks Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson have been inconsistent and safeties Rodney McLeod and McDonald are unproven.

Julio Jones says right foot completely healed (The Associated Press)

Thursday, July 31st, 2014
Julio Jones describes his second return from right foot surgery as ''a work in progress.'' Regardless how many routes he runs in training camp or how many snaps he takes in preseason games, Jones has one primary goal - to be healthy when the Atlanta Falcons host New Orleans in the season opener Sept. 7. The Falcons are holding the 25-year-old Jones out of practice every other day to ensure a reasonable workload, and that's fine with him. He led the NFL in catches and ranked second in yards receiving at the time of his injury, but Jones couldn't believe the diagnosis because he didn't feel excruciating pain. Serious injuries to receiver Roddy White and running back Steven Jackson also hurt production as tight end Tony Gonzalez was double- and triple-teamed.
