Mariners send starter Fister to Tigers

The Seattle Mariners have sent right-handed starter Doug Fister and reliever David Pauley to the Detroit Tigers for outfielder Casper Wells, infielder Francisco Martinez and left-handed pitcher Charlie Furbush. The trade was made official Saturday.

Powell runs a 9 86 in Budapest 100 metres

Asafa Powell won the mens 100-metre race in 9.86 seconds at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest on Saturday, the fastest ever run in the country. The Jamaican was the only competitor to run under 10 seconds, finishing ahead of Ngonidzashe Makusha of Zimbabwe and Andres Hinds of Barbados.

Holland sails to complete game shutout of Jays

Mitch Moreland hit a two-run homer and left-hander Derek Holland pitched his fourth shutout of the season as the Texas Rangers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 on Saturday. Holland (10-4) won his fourth consecutive decision over his past five starts as he held the Blue Jays to four hits while striking out five.

Vettel hungers for F1 title takes Budapest pole

Sebastian Vettel reminded his Formula One rivals that Red Bull remains the team to beat in the championship after taking pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix at Budapest. The F1 leaders crew worked on his car through the night and the payoff was immediate as he stormed around the Hungaroring circuit on his last flying lap.
