One-time NBA player Manute Bol, who worked diligently to improve conditions in his native Sudan, was remembered Tuesday as a shot-blocker to be feared and a humanitarian to be loved at a funeral service in Washington.

Edmonton Oilers president Patrick LaForge and other members of owner Daryl Katzs business team were meeting with Hamilton city councillors Tuesday to negotiate a deal to take over operations of Copps Coliseum. A move by Oilers owner Daryl Katz to operate Copps Coliseum and other sports and convention facilities in Hamilton, Ont., was not undertaken to force the hand of Edmonton city council in the downtown arena debate, the Oilers president says.
