Myskina ousted at ASB Women s Classic

Former world No.2 Anastasia Myskina was ousted in the first round the ASB Womens Tennis Classic on Monday, losing in three sets to Argentinas Gisela Dulko. Second-seeded Myskina, whose world ranking dropped to 16 in 2006, appeared to struggle with a foot injury and required courtside treatment before going down to the 59th-ranked Dulko 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Kobe leads Lakers over hapless Sixers

Favre leads Packers to emotional win

Brett Favre showed he still has some ammo left, passing for 285 yards to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 26-7 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. The three-time MVP completed 19-of-40 passes with a touchdown and interception in what could be his last game. He had 209 yards in the first half alone as the Packers grabbed a 23-0 lead.

Howard leads Mavs to 10th straight win

Josh Howard had 28 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Dallas Mavericks to their 10th straight victory, 89-85 over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night. Howard had nine points in the fourth quarter and made a key basket in the last minute. Jason Terry scored nine of his 21 points in the final period for the Mavericks, missing star Dirk Nowitzki because of a sinus infection.

Chiefs win to sneak into playoff spot

Larry Johnson rushed for 138 yards on 33 carries in Kansas Citys 35-30 victory over Jacksonville, giving him an NFL-record 416 carries this season. Still, the Chiefs did not clinch the final playoff spot until the San Francisco 49ers beat the Denver Broncos in overtime later in the day.

Sharks double up on Stars in Dallas

Joe Thornton scored his 200th career goal and added two assists to help the San Jose Sharks to a 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday night. The Sharks snapped a three-game losing streak by bouncing back from their most lopsided defeat of the season, an 8-0 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday.

Resurgent Flyers upend Hurricanes

Alexei Zhitnik scored the go-ahead goal, and Robert Esche played a strong game in goal in the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday night. Ryan Potulny and Kyle Calder scored early in the third period for the Flyers, who were outshot 42-19 but were opportunistic enough to pull out their second straight win.
