MLS Cup: After Raptors title, can Toronto follow LA, Pittsburgh in year of success?

Five months on from the Raptors' stunning NBA Finals triumph in Oakland, the city of Toronto will hope to be celebrating further success after the MLS Cup final. The Raptors defeated two-time defending champions the Golden State Warriors for their first title, and Toronto FC can add another championship by beating Seattle Sounders on Sunday. Toronto and Seattle are facing one another in the season decider in MLS for the third time in four years, winning a title apiece at BMO Field before this showdown at CenturyLink Field.

Atlanta United dethroned by Toronto FC

The MLS Cup final won't be returning to Atlanta. Atlanta United's run at winning back-to-back league titles came to an end, as the team fell to Toronto FC 2-1 in the Eastern Conference final at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday night. Julian Gressel's second goal of the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs gave United an early 1-0 advantage but Toronto answered with a pair of goals to reach the MLS Cup final for the third time in four years.

Toronto FC-Fire Preview

After 13 years in Bridgeview, the Fire are finally leaving the 'burbs and coming home to Chicago. Looking to extend their slim playoff hopes into the final matchday of the season, the Fire play their final match at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday when they host Toronto FC. After two separate stints at Soldier Field interrupted by a two-year stretch in Naperville while the home of the Chicago Bears underwent renovations, the Fire (9-12-11) moved into a soccer-specific stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, in the southwest suburbs of the city in 2006.
