Justin Fields officially named starting QB at Ohio State

A piece of news that seemed inevitable is now official: Justin Fields is Ohio State's starting quarterback. Ryan Day, entering his first season as OSU's head coach, announced Monday that Fields, the high-profile transfer from Georgia, will lead the offense when the Buckeyes open the season against Florida Atlantic in Columbus. Fields beat out Gunnar Hoak, a graduate transfer from Kentucky, and Chris Chugunov for the job.

Yes, players like Ezekiel Elliott and Michael Thomas are not in camp at the moment as they are both holding out for new contracts, but those will surely get sorted out sooner rather than later. Ohio State has done its fair share of loading up NFL rosters through the years and this year 62 former Buckeyes will be part of training camp rosters, looking to play at the next level.
