Top QB Draft Picks Don’t Usually Flunk Out Of The NFL Right Away

Tuesday, September 17th, 2019

Kyler Murray had a rough start to his NFL career. Facing the Detroit Lions in Week 1, the No. 1 overall draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals threw an ugly interception in the first quarter, was sacked by his own lineman and entered the fourth quarter with a stat line of 9-26 for 70 yards. Down 24-6, Arizona's hope for the future hit a groove.

Red-zone problems hurting Cardinals’ quest for wins

Monday, September 16th, 2019

Rookie quarterback Kyler Murray is good at throwing the football, Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald are good at catching it, and first-year coach Kliff Kingsbury's Air Raid offense is functioning well for the Arizona Cardinals through two games. Most of the time. But there have been some problems - especially in the red zone - and that's a big reason the Cardinals (0-1-1) are still searching for their first win of the season after losing to the Baltimore Ravens 23-17 on Sunday.

Week 2 Fantasy Wrap: Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray shine

Sunday, September 15th, 2019

Traveling across the country to play a 10AM body-clock game following a tie in overtime, this wasn't a favorable setup for Kyler Murray against a tough Baltimore defense (even if missing Jimmy Smith). Murray is the real deal, and especially given his situation in the uptempo Arizona offense, should be treated as a borderline top-five fantasy QB moving forward (just wait until he starts running). Of course, that would still be lower than Lamar Jackson, who's right there in the conversation as fantasy's most valuable QB behind only Patrick Mahomes.

It's a difficult task to play such an important position one year out of college, but Jackson persevered and took Baltimore to the playoffs. Suggs sees some of the same traits in Cardinals rookie Kyler Murray that Jackson flashed last season.
