Kirk Cousins wasn't terrible in his first Minnesota Vikings season, but it felt that way. Cousins didn't play well against the best teams on the Vikings' schedule last season, Minnesota struggled mightily against good teams, and the 2018 season ended with an 8-7-1 record and no postseason berth. Of course Cousins, in the first year of a fully guaranteed $84 million deal, took a majority of the criticism.

Benwikere has spent time with six teams over his first five NFL seasons, since being drafted by Carolina in the fifth round out of San Jose State in 2014. Holton Hill, whose role was elevated after Hughes was hurt and filled in when Rhodes and Waynes missed two games apiece to injury, has been suspended by the league for the first eight games.

Thin at cornerback, the Minnesota Vikings will sign veteran Bene' Benwikere to provide some depth, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. Cornerback Holton Hill is suspended for the first eight games of the season for violating the NFL's policy and program on substance abuse and Mike Hughes is out with an ACL injury. Benwikere was a fifth-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2014 NFL Draft.
