Wednesday, February 12th, 2020

With the Cincinnati Bengals in position to select Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, the team is apparently willing to help its incumbent find a soft landing. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the rebuilding Bengals intend to trade Andy Dalton, the franchise's career leader in touchdown passes, "when the time is right" this offseason. The Bengals, who were an NFL-worst 2-14 last season, are expected to select Ohio native Burrow, who led LSU to the national championship in his final college season.

With their eyes presumably on Joe Burrow in the NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals reportedly plan to work with Andy Dalton on an exit plan. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Bengals intend to find a landing spot for their veteran quarterback that he's on board with “when the time is right. Bengals won't put Dalton 'in a bad spot' “They're not going to do anything that puts him in a bad spot or that he does not agree with going forward,” Rapoport reported on Wednesday.

Report: Bengals willing to work with Andy Dalton on trade

Wednesday, February 12th, 2020

When Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin discussed the team's plans for quarterback Andy Dalton last month, he said the team would not do anything that Dalton is “uncomfortable with” and that they will be in “constant communication” this offseason. The backdrop for those comments is the expectation that the Bengals are going to use the first overall draft pick on a quarterback this April and it appears one of the things they'll be discussing with Dalton is the possibility of a trade. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the team is willing to work with Dalton to facilitate a trade to another team “when the time is right.” That approach would give Dalton some say over his next team while also offering the Bengals a chance to gain some compensation in return for the veteran quarterback.

Even though most of the chatter — which leaves plenty of room between the lines — is coming from the mouths of his son and those around him. 2020 NFL Draft Quarterback Team Fits

Wednesday, February 5th, 2020

Now, most of this would make an offense easier for any QB, but Tagovailoa in particular has a quick mental trigger and an equally quick physical trigger, in addition to fantastic accuracy, all of which makes him a prime candidate for an offense that relies on getting the ball out on-time and, typically, early in the down. Carolina's coaching staff was overhauled, of course, so I'm not certain Carolina is actually Tagovailoa's best fit anymore, though he'd surely impress under OC Joe Brady. Rather, their style of offense from last season fits Tagovailoa's skill set, no matter which team that may be with.
