Kaman powers Clippers past T Wolves

Chris Kaman had 16 points and 16 rebounds to help the Los Angeles Clippers rally to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 91-82 on Monday night. Cuttino Mobley scored 18 points and Corey Maggette added 17 for the Clippers, who snapped a six-game losing streak and a seven-game home skid despite missing all 14 three-point attempts.

Sixers beat up on injury riddled Sonics

Andre Iguodala scored 25 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers beat the injury-depleted Seattle SuperSonics 98-90 on Monday night. The Sonics played without their top two scorers. Rookie guard Kevin Durant, who is averaging 19.7 points, was out with a sprained left index finger. Second-leading scorer Chris Wilcox has a sprained left knee. Both had started all 30 games this season.

Halak and Bulldogs blank Griffins

Jaroslav Halak stopped 22 shots to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 1-0 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins in AHL action Monday. Halak faced just 11 shots over the first two periods, then survived a spirited third period to lead the Bulldogs (11-14-1-5) to victory. Janne Lahti had the lone goal of the game at 6:35 of the third period, redirecting a Daniel Corso pass inside the left post behind Griffins netminder Jimmy Howard.

Coyotes edge Avalanche in a shootout

Peter Mueller and Radim Vrbata scored in a shootout to give the Phoenix Coyotes a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night. After the Avs Wojtek Wolski failed to record a shot in the shootout, Mueller scored on a wrist shot past goalie Peter Budaj. Coyotes goalie Ilya Bryzgalov then stopped Marek Svatos, and when Vrbata scored on a backhand, the Coyotes picked up two standing points.

Dumont scores in Predators win over Stars

J.P. Dumont scored a second-period goal, rookie Dan Ellis stopped 22 shots for his third career shutout and the Nashville Predators ended a seven-game losing streak in Dallas with a 1-0 victory over the Stars on Monday night. Dumont provided the Predators with all the scoring theyd need at 16:42 of the second period, striking from in front of the net off a setup by Alexander Radulov.

Nolan Huselius lead Flames over Canucks

Owen Nolan and Kristian Huselius scored to lead the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks in the final regular season game of 2007 on Monday night. Daymond Langkow set up both goals, while goalie Miikka Kiprusoff made 25 saves for the Flames (19-14-7), who won their second straight game. Daniel Sedin scored the lone goal for the Canucks (22-14-4), who had beaten the Flames in all three previous meetings this season.

NHL Winter Classic turning men into boys

The Buffalo Sabres were halfway through their practice on the rink in Ralph Wilson Stadium on Monday afternoon when coach Lindy Ruff canned the monotonous drills and let his players play shinny. I wanted them to get back the feeling of playing pond hockey, Ruff explained. It felt like the right thing to do, and they had a great time. Millionaire pros were acting like kids. That was awesome, it really was, Ruff said of the unique outdoor experience.

OHL Spirit edge Spitfires

Jack Combs keeps on scoring, and the Saginaw Spirit keep on winning. Combs broke a tie early in the third period to lift the surging Spirit to a 3-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires on Monday night in the OHL.

Bosh leads Raptors rally over Hornets

Chris Bosh scored 29 points and the Toronto Raptors rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the New Orleans Hornets 97-92 on Monday night. The Hornets winning streak ended at five after Chris Paul, perhaps exhausted from a 44-minute effort, committed a turnover with just over a minute to go and then missed a pair of crucial free throws that could have given New Orleans the lead with 25.8 seconds left.

Jazz hand Trail Blazers rare loss

Andrei Kirilenko had 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and the Utah Jazz finally ended Portlands near-perfect December, beating the Trail Blazers 111-101 on Monday night to snap their 13-game winning streak. Portland lost for the first time since a 100-79 defeat at San Antonio on Dec. 2. The Blazers won their next 13, including two over Utah, and were three victories away from tying the franchise record.
