Welcome to the NHL League Logo database. You are viewing the new NHL logo that has been used from 2005 - present. This logo is the first dramatic redesign by the NHL which was prompted after loosing the 2004-2005 season to lockout. The NHL logo was redesigned in color to be more identifiable with the Stanley Cup and to help modernize the look of the game. It was a bold move by the NHL to move away from the classic black and orange color scheme which has been used on all NHL merchandise, collectables and print media up until 2004. To give credit to the NHL the new 2005 logo did not venture too far from the original, keeping the traditional shield in tact and not losing their brand recognition for their fans.
