Vijay Singh's experience was the difference at the Shell Houston Open as Vijay waited patiently for John Daly to make a mistake.. It was a John Daly ill-advised playoff drive that skipped into the water that helped Vijay Singh overcome some putting problems on Sunday. The win marks the second straight victory for the elated Singh and his third victory here in four years.
Daly, played well coming from three shots back and birdied the last two holes finishing at 5-under 67 to match Singh at 13-under 275 to fight for the win in extra holes,
But that is where Daly's luck ended. He sent his drive on the first extra hole, the par-4 18th, into the water and followed that up putting his next over the green.
Singh, who had only two birdies in his closing 70, showed his championship form by calmly stepping up to make par for his second tournament victory this year and his 26th PGA Tour career victory.
With the win Vijay won $900,000 and passed Tiger Woods on the money list to place second overall just $6,043 behind tour leader Phil Mickelson.
