With a stroke of shear brilliance Tiger Woods' dipped into his glorious past at The Masters tournament, a chip shot that seemed to be in slow motion before it fell into the cup.
Then Tiger made it interesting... shots into the trees, into the sand, into the rough. On display was a rare collapse by one of the greatest finishers in game of golf. Many times Tiger was on the edge of blowing his final-round lead in a major, which would have been a first for the young superstar.
Tiger kept everyone guessing to the very end on Sunday, where he saved his best for the last two shots under extreme pressure and then making a 15-foot birdie putt to beat Chris DiMarco in a playoff. With this win Tiger claims his fourth Masters victory.
The day started off quickly when Woods rattled off seven straight birdies to tie The Masters record. It came to a dramatic end with the daylight starting to fade when Woods hit a "perfect" tee shot in the playoff and an near perfect 8-iron on the green. Tigers winning putt slide into the cup, giving the 29 year old Tiger Woods his ninth major championship. br>
DiMarco played with a never say die attitude, chipping away at a three-shot Tiger Woods lead, with a 35-foot birdie on the 11th and applying the pressure.
DiMarco who played with Phil Mickelson last year, helplessly watching him win his first major with an 18-foot birdie on the final hole once again helplessly watched on as Woods made a 15-foot putt in the playoff on 18 from the same line.
DiMarco missed the birdie as his chip attempt got him close enough for a tap in par put. He then looked on waiting for what he seemed to know was about to happen. "Expect the unexpected," DiMarco said afterwards. "Unfortunately, it's not unexpected what he's going to do."
Tiger knew it was over well before the ball reached the hole, smiled, punched the air as the ball settled home in the cup.
Woods broke down while dedicating the victory to his father who was absent do to poor health. It was a strange week at Augusta, but in the end Tiger Woods was wearing a green jacket... again.
