Tiger Woods was the last man standing at the Buick Invitational's Torrey Pines Golf Course

On a very challenging course Tiger Woods posted a 4-under 68 on Sunday to win the 2005 Buick Invitational. This was Tiger Woods first victory of the season and his first stroke-play triumph since the 2003 American Express Championship. Tiger relied on Lehman, who hasn't won in five years and squandered a great chance to become the first active Ryder Cup captain to win on the PGA Tour since Jack Nicklaus at the 1986 Masters. Lehman hit every fairway on the back nine, but he stumbled at the end -- an 8-iron into a plugged lie in the bunker on No. 17, then his wedge that came up short of the green on the 18th. Lehman has failed to win his last seven tournaments when he had at least a share of the 54-hole lead, dating to the 1996 Tour Championship at Southern Hills.
