The par-72 Forest Oak Country Club is 7,197 yards from the championship tees. This course was built on large rolling hills and many of its greens are elevated. There are many grass bunkers and sand bunkers throughout the course. Additionally, there are water hazards that come into play on many holes. The Chrysler Classic at Greensboro originally known as the Greater Greensboro Open golf tournament or GGO, has been a regular stop on the PGA Tour since it's inception in 1938. It was played primarily over the Starmount and Sedgefield golf courses in the Greensboro North Carolina area in the 1930's, 40's, and 50's, and primarily at Sedgefield Country Club in the 1960's and 1970's. The golf course then shifted to a new tournament site that is now the current location of the tourney at Forest Oaks in the late 1977 and is now the permanent home of the Greater Greensboro Open.
